Announcements

The Episcopal Church of The Annunciation has always had a strong emphasis on outreach to the local community and beyond.  We believe in the responsibilities as Christians to reach out to those in need.  Outreach at Annunciation begins with our Sunday School children donating canned goods. Elementary and teens serve meals at Austin Street Centre and travel to Bluff Utah to volunteer in Navajoland.

Adults reach out through prayer and personal visitations.  We believe and live our mission statement

"To Know Christ And Make Christ Known".

Austin Street Centre  Annunciation has the privilege of providing food for the homeless and hungry of the Dallas area. This vital ministry of the Episcopal Church in Dallas provides perhaps the only meal for some 200 to 400 hungry men, women and children. And Jesus said, "Whatever you have done for the least of these my brothers (and sisters), you have done for me." Contact Pat Maguire.

NavajoLand Educates and nurtures the physical and spiritual needs of Navajo children in Utah for two weeks each summer; also coordinates Christmas gifts to the Navajo children donated by Annunciation members.  The Navajoland Team sponsors a delicious Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper each year to benefit outreach work in Navajoland.  Contact Mary Ann Du Teil

THE BELIZE MISSION

Belize is a Central American country. It borders the Caribbean Sea on the east, Mexico on the north and Guatemala on the west and south. It is a small country, about the same size as New Jersey. Its population is even smaller, about the same as Lewisville, Flower Mound and Irving combined.

The primary religions are Roman Catholic and Anglican. Annunciation and Church of the Incarnation in Dallas work with the Anglican Diocese of Belize in planning and executing our mission trips, focusing where possible on Anglican schools. There is a clear need for help and it is a stable, English-speaking country affiliated with us via the Anglican Communion.

What do we do?

In cooperation with the local schools and the Anglican Diocese of Belize, we've helped supply and install numerous libraries in this country in great need of literacy education. We also teach the Gospel to Belizean children, refurbish school play yards and assist in building Anglican mission churches.

Participants in the Annunciation Mission to Belize have joined a team of missioners from St Andrews-McKinney and Incarnation-Dallas in 2009 and 2010. In January, we will be sending missioners once again as part of the combined team.

We are looking forward to 2012 when we will take greater responsibility in planning and conducting a trip.

What can I do?

Planning for our mission trip is an ongoing process. Throughout the year the team meets to assess our priorities, define responsibilities and assign duties. On several occasions we sell Belizean products to our congregation to raise money. There are local opportunities to assist by purchasing items or working at the “booth.”

If you would like to join our team or have questions on how you can participate on the home front, please see Debbie & Mike Finn, David Jones, Mike Shovlin or Peggy Durrett.
