ABOUT US History Clergy Program Staff Office Staff Vestry FAQs

The Episcopal Church strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome.  Walking a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, we are a sacramental and worship-oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ.

Exploring this section may answer some of your questions - or raise additional ones!  Visit a church, or three, to find out more.  The best way to learn about the Episcopal Church is to become a part of it.  Come and Grow

We may not have all the answers, but we welcome all your questions.  That’s because we believe we all have something more to learn from one another – and always more to learn about ourselves, our world, and God.  The Episcopal Church does not ask you to check your mind at the door.  Our ability to reason is a gift from God.  Come and grow in understanding through silent meditation or group discussion.  COME AND LEARN more about two thousand years of church history.  Come and learn every day to better understand God’s presence in our lives.

Christian Education, for both adults and children, is present in most congregations.  Bible studies and Sunday schools are typical, but congregations may also offer reading groups, meditation, writing workshops, lecture series, and many other learning opportunities… go to a church near you to find out what it’s all about.

Through worship and praise, we give thanks for what really matters: the love, hope, and faith in our lives.  It can be easy to forget our blessings.  Gathering together to give God thanks helps us center ourselves and celebrate life.  Our worship spaces are full of music and art, thoughts and feelings, and people better and worse off than each of us.  In times when we bring our pain to God, we can be grateful that we can bring it honestly and find comfort in God and our church community.  COME AND RECEIVE God’s love and ask how you can help love grow all around.

"When was it that we saw you hungry and fed you, or thirsty and gave you a drink?  A stranger and took you home, or naked and clothed you?  When did we see you ill or in prison, and come to visit you?”  These are the things God asks us to do everyday – in little and big ways.  SERVICE SHOWS US what we can do for our family, our neighbors, and our communities.  Service helps us move beyond ourselves.  Through service and the love of God, you might just be surprised to see how your family grows…in definition and blessings.

Picture the world smiling.  Now smile at the next person you see and feel the warmth of getting a smile back.  Then, push up your sleeves and start to work for peace.  The church, at its best, is a force for peace in the world.  A peace like Jesus promised: PEACE THAT PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING.  In a world of differences, we come to church to be reconciled by God to each other.  If we can love the hurt parts of ourselves, we can begin to forgive, accept and love others.   To God, there are no outcasts.  If you take the first step, we can grow, and do all we can for peace… together.
