2012 A BIG YEAR FOR

ANNUNCIATION

Beloved in Christ:

Thought 2011 was a big year for Annunciation? Just wait for 2012.

In 2011 we celebrated our fiftieth anniversary, developed fifty new acts of outreach to commemorate our fifty years of service to the community, bid farewell to Fr. David Holland, our priest and pastor for the past twenty-one years, and selected a search committee to help us find a new rector. Along with all of that we said good-bye to several of our members, some by move or attrition and some by death; we welcomed a number of new folks into our parish family; and we saw the ordination of Amy Haynie to the priesthood and James Pevehouse to the diaconate.

So how can 2012 be any bigger? Wait and see.  The annual meeting brought us news of a next major step. Also in 2012 the search committee will be hard at work sifting through likely candidates for our next rector. A call may even take place before the end of the year, although its a little too early to make any sort of time-wise predictions. And there is a current of new life surging through the congregation. Who knows where that will lead us?

STEPHEN MINISTRY AT ANNUNCIATION

Who can take away suffering without entering into it?  Jesus Christ himself, according to the Scriptures, has suffered for us and now suffers with us.  It is by his death and resurrection that we are most truly healed.  St. Paul says we are to bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of love.  Stephen Ministry is a ministry of the laity.  Specifically it is a group of people within our congregation who have heard God’s call to love and care for the hurting among us.  Stephen Ministers share the burdens with another by offering Christ-centered care that is compassionate, faith-filled, skillful, and confidential.  If you or someone you know would like to know more about this pastoral ministry, please contact Stephen Ministry Team Leaders: Mthr. Freda Marie or Ms. Anna Rae Rozell at (972) 221-3531.

MUSIC NOTES  by Stephen Gourley, Organist/Choir Director

It is with great pleasure that we announce the re-formation of the Annunciation Chamber Singers.  This small group sings mostly a cappella music from the 15th– early 17th century, though they are not limited to this.  They are an advanced group of musicians with a great deal of training under their belts.  We have already experienced these fine singers in church several times, and they will continue to assist in leading worship in the coming months.
